What to Wear
The right outfit can elevate your photos from simple snaps to timeless pieces of art. This guide is here to help you feel confident in your wardrobe choices while staying true to your style and personality. Use this guide for inspiration, but wear what makes you feel like you.
01 / Why It Matters
Certain colors, materials, or patterns might look great in person but can be distracting in photos. This guide will help you create a cohesive, beautiful look that photographs well & maintains your personal style.
02 / Bring Options
Plan for 1-4 outfits you feel great in. Think layers, textures, and pieces that can be mixed and matched depending on the scenery and lighting. Try to avoid bringing your entire closet—just your favotires!
03 / Personality First
Photos feel most genuine when you feel like you. If you live in denim and boots, don't force a fancy dress and heels just because it's cute. Bring outfits that reflect your personality and feel like second skin. If you're uncomfortable, it'll show. Try not to wear pieces that need constant adjusting. Leave the itchy sweater and uncomfortable shoes at home. The more natural you feel, the more relaxed and true-to-you you’ll look.
04 / Logistics
Consider how well your outfit works in the location. Will you be able to move easily? Sit? Walk? Dance? Think about footwear too-heels are usually not ideal for natural locations.
05 / Movement
Materials like linen, cotton, and loose weaves capture movement beautifully. A little wind in your dress or jacket? Perfection. Try to avoid stiff, structured pieces unless that's part of your aesthetic.
06 / Colors
You can never go wrong with earth tones, neutrals, and muted palettes: rust, cream, sage, slate, terracotta, charcoal, etc. Try to avoid neon, bright red, or vibrant yellows and oranges— those colors tend to cast onto the skin and turn you whatever color you’re wearing (bright orange skin is not the look we’re going for).
07 / Patterns
Subtle patterns, soft florals, and lace are great. Try to avoid big graphics, logos, or heavy patterns that draw the eye away from your face.
08 / Accessories
Hats, jewelry, scarves, etc. are perfect for adding personality, but try to keep them simple. Bring sentimental pieces or things you wear daily to elevate your look.
09 / Comfort is Key
If you're uncomfortable, it'll show. Try to voice pieces that need constant adjusting. The more natural you feel, the more relaxed and real you’ll look.
